Description
Art print based on an original gouache painting of the Lynch cabin in Hatcher Pass, Alaska. Originally built around 1930, the cabin is located near Gold Cord Lake, overlooking the historic Independence Mine. Built with a double wall using corrugated metal and full logs, with layers of sod sandwiched between the metal walls. The area is full of historical artifacts and it’s fascinating to consider that the Lynch family may have lived here for a period before moving into the housing at the mine. It’s an interesting reminder of a community that once was bustling with activity, now taken over by nature.
The photo this painting is based on was taken on one of our many hikes to the Gold Cord Lake.
