This wonderful blue flower, native to the Tibetan Plateau of the Himalayan Mountains, is called the Himalayan Poppy. Its delicate blue petals provides a vivid blue burst of color during the Alaskan spring and early summer and an intimate encounter with one of nature’s true blue beauties.
This particular specimen was photographed in our own yard. With this painting, I’ve attempted to reproduce the velvety texture of its petals and the subtle blue and purple gradients that makes this flower so captivating.
