Commissions

I currently ACCEPT new commissions.

If you like my painting style, I’d love to create a custom painting just for you, or for a loved one. I primarily paint landscapes, but you might be able to convince me to tackle other subjects as well. Let’s work together to create something beautiful! Read through the below, fill out the form and we’ll go from there!

Note: strictly no portraits at this time (I know my limitations), although this may change in the future. I reserve the right to decline other requests I may not be comfortable with as well.

How do I commission a painting?

Pricing

Step 1 – The Subject

This is all you, my friend. Before any painting can start, YOU need to know what you want. What’s the scene you would like me to paint? Do you have reference photos (the more, the better) you can provide to me to base my painting on?

Step 2 – Consultation

Now we connect. By filling out the form below, you’re taking the first step towards a custom painting. It is through the below form you tell me what you’re looking for, what size you want it to be, when you need it and so on.

Once I receive your information, I will reach out to you to discuss in more detail and we can agree on timelines, pricing and so on.

Please review the pricing options below before reaching out.

Once we are in agreement on what you’d like to see, I’ll send you an invoice for the non-refundable deposit to secure your place in my painting schedule.

Step 3 – Let’s Get The Party Started

Now it’s my turn. It’s where the brush and pigment meets the paper and your vision comes alive. I’ll share initial sketches and simple mockups for you to review before I embark on the final piece. Progress photos will be provided on a regular basis so you can experience the process from the comfort of your home (or wherever you may be).

Step 4 – The Final Countdown

Once the painting is complete, I will provide a watermarked photo of the finished painting  for your approval. Upon your approval and final payment, your painting will be packaged up and shipped to you.

Pricing for a commissioned painting varies depending on size and effort (such as level of detail). The more information you can provide about what you’re looking for, the better of an estimate I can provide. Below are the pricing start points for the respective sizes I usually paint.

8×6″ painting: starting at $150
8×8″ painting: starting at $200
12×9″ (and larger) painting: starting at $350

Note that 50% of the agreed upon price must be paid up front to reserve your commission spot. This is non-refundable. The remaining 50% must be paid upon completion of the painting, prior to delivery.

I am open to larger sizes but due to the nature of gouache, larger paintings than what’s listed above may produce uneven results. For other custom sizes within the ranges above, please let me know and we can discuss.

Timeline

At this point in time, painting is something I do outside of my regular job. As such, I cannot guarantee quick turnarounds. Smaller paintings can take a couple of weeks, depending on the level of detail, while larger paintings can take a month or longer to complete.  I will always do  my best to complete a painting in the time we’ve agreed on.

As a result, the number of commission slots per year will also be limited.
