Art print based on an original gouache painting a colorful sunrise as seen through a car rearview mirror.

The reference photo for this painting was captured one morning on our way to school. We saw this glorious sunrise in our rearview mirrors and my son was able to snap a photo. It’s a great example of the great sunrises we see here in Alaska, with the clouds, the sun and the mountains all playing an important role in creating this beautiful canvas of colors.

This painting is painted on black paper, which creates some unique qualities to the image. The black background means that not all parts of the paper is covered with paint, instead allowing the black color to provide a natural contrast where appropriate.
