Description
Greeting card based on an original gouache painting of a sunny winter ski trail in southcentral Alaska.
Although winters in Alaska can be cold and dark, quite often the sunny and clear skies coincides with extreme cold. Being outside is more challenging but often it’s worth the effort just to see the beauty of Alaska during the winter. This painting captures the scene of a ski trail in southcentral Alaska (Government Peak for those local) during one of these sunny days during the early parts of winter. The sun is low in the sky even though it’s the middle of the day, there’s just a little bit of snow on the trees and there is evidence of a well-utilized trail. It’s an attempt to capture the natural beauty without having to step outside in the freezing conditions.
