First of all, I’d like to welcome you to my new website. I’m excited to share my art and journey through painting with you through this website, but also through my paintings.
Although art has been high of my list of interest since I was a kid, it’s only in the last few years that painting has become my primary means of expression. My wife introduced me to Let’s Make Art a few years ago, which introduced me to an enticing world of watercolor painting. After several years and numerous projects, this led to gouache painting projects, and that’s where I’m at today. All of my paintings since early 2023 have been gouache paintings.
Most of my paintings tend to be landscapes inspired by the beautiful surroundings here in Alaska. In fact, many of them are based on photos taken by my wife (she’s a much better photographer than I ever hope to be). Alaska is one of those places where you can find inspiration just by stepping out on the front porch for a minute, or while running an errand around town. That’s what I love about Alaska! Inspiration is everywhere.
But, it’s not just mountains and wildflowers and the occasional happy cloud. also paint other scenes inspired by holidays, popular culture or just random objects. Sometimes inspiration strikes at random and you have to grab it while you can. I’ve also explored painting in virtual reality, although that effort is on the shelf for the time being (I have too many “real” projects to paint at the moment).
In other words, you’ll mostly see landscapes, but don’t be surprised if you see other random paintings.
Initially, this site will contain a selection of my most recent paintings. Over time, I’ll be adding all of my previous paintings, both here and on Etsy (all sales are through Etsy for the time being), so keep an eye open! You can also expect to be able to purchase prints and paintings directly from this site. In fact, larger originals will only be available here, on this site, and not through Etsy.
I would also encourage you to sign up for my newsletter over on Substack. Although this blog will also contain content, I intend to use Substack for more frequent update, while this blog on the site will contain more in depth overview of my art. You can sign up by subscribing below.
I promise to not splash any paint on you in return!
