Around the Christmas season, decorations are put up inside and outside. In every town and village, there tends to be a number of families that consistently decorate their homes, lifting the holiday spirit for the rest of us.
Not far from where we live, there is a home just like that. Located on the outskirts of our little town, it welcomes commuters home every day in the winter time with decorations that brighten up the dark winter nights of Alaska.
This display of holiday cheer has been on my list to paint for a while, and just recently my wife was able to snap a few good reference photos for me to base my painting on.
With this painting, I wanted to capture the warm, cozy feel I get every time I pass by on the highway, through the Christmas tree glowing in the window, to the decorated wreath and Christmas lights on the building itself.
Merry Christmas!
