Dahlia Delight

Dahlia Delight showcases the intricate beauty of one of nature’s most beloved flowers. Painted with gouache in vivid shades of red, pink, and golden yellow, the dahlia bursts forward against an out-of-focus backdrop that lets its petals, reminiscent of embers from a fire, shine.

Although not native to Alaska, the dahlia is successfully grown by many Alaskan farms during our short growing season. The reference photo for this painting was taken at such a local farm just last year and is just one of many colorful variations of this flower. 

This painting is an addition to my collection of other flower paintings and I expect it won’t be the last dahlia
