Towards the end of the summer, as the cooler temperatures and fall arrives, the colors of the leaves change. Gradual at first, with just a hint of yellow, eventually this transformation turns into a full-blown canopy of orange, red and yellow everywhere you look.
This painting is based on a photo taken during this period. The Palmer water tower is framed by red, orange and yellow while Matanuska Peak teases fresh snow that we know will slowly move down towards us. It’s that moment during the year when you know winter is close but you can still enjoy the beauty of fall.
