Alaska has an abundance of flowers during the summer months. Whether it’s flowers in gardens or flowers in the wilderness, they add a splash of color throughout the landscape anywhere you go. With a wide variety of flowers blooming through the summer, there’s always something pretty to look at and smell.
It’s also one of the reasons I like to paint flowers, even though they can be challenging. Lupine has an interesting color range, with the blue and purple colors the most visible, but also a silver-green type of color that’s more or less visible depending on the stage of the bloom.
This painting tries to capture these color schemes. The blurred, green background implies other vegetation and flowers that I’ll leave to your imagination for now.
