Old Flower Truck
About the painting
There’s something special about old vehicles. Whether it’s a classic Model T or a vintage pickup spotted on the road or at one of the many summer car shows around town, they all seem to have a story to tell.
For me, it’s the “retired” ones that fascinate the most. You just know that at one point, these rusty shells were a vital part of the community—hauling produce, lumber, and who knows what else. In a way, they were alive, woven into everyday life.
The truck in this painting has since been transformed into a landmark for a local flower farm—one of our family favorites. Now resting in a patch of grass, it’s decorated with flowers in pots and planters and points the way to visitors looking for a little natural beauty.
I’ve wanted to paint this truck for a long time. As much as we enjoy the flowers from the farm, I’m always drawn to this old vehicle whenever we visit. There’s something about its quiet presence and weathered charm that sticks with me—and I knew one day I had to try to capture it on paper.
I’m glad I finally did!
