Twilight Over The Fairgrounds

Twilight Over The Fairgrounds

About the painting

Alaska’s breathtaking sunrises and sunsets are an unforgettable part of life in the Last Frontier, especially during the fall and winter months. No matter where you are in the state, the sky often erupts into brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red, while the majestic Chugach Mountains glow with fleeting pink hues as the sun sets.

“Twilight Over The Fairgrounds” is my latest gouache painting, inspired by the stunning evening skies over Palmer, Alaska. This scene is one I pass by every evening on my way home from work. Some days, the sky is quiet, but on others, nature puts on a show that stops you in your tracks. The reference photo for this piece was taken on one of those extraordinary afternoons—one that made me pause, smile, and appreciate the beauty surrounding us.

This artwork captures the essence of Alaska’s ever-changing skies, making it a perfect addition to any home or collection. Whether you’re drawn to the rich colors of an Alaskan sunset or the nostalgia of Palmer’s scenic landscapes, this painting brings the magic of nature to life.
