Warm Winter Moments

Painted during one of the coldest periods of 2023, this painting tries to capture the moment when we witness the swirling snow and the brutal cold outside while enjoying the warmth inside. 

The decorated tree outside and the ornaments on the window ledge point to the Christmas season, while the candle brings light during a dark season. The cup of hot cocoa warms us inside while the snowflakes fall outside.

This painting was a bit of a challenge for me in the sense that I was still trying to figure out how to paint wood, especially in a scene like this when it’s partially dark and illuminated only by the candle. Regardless, it’s one of my favorite paintings of 2023.
