Note card based on an original gouache painting featuring Fireweed in bloom.

Here in Alaska, Fireweed tends to be the first hints that summer is coming to an end. With its pink and purple hues, these colorful flowers cover fields and mountain sides as well as alongside trails and gardens. Although it may be a reminder of fall that’s just ahead, it’s a beautiful flower to look at, especially when it covers fields as far as the eye can see. In this painting, I’ve attempted to capture the vibrant pink and purple hues of the Fireweed blooms.
