Christmas In Palmer
About the painting
Christmas In Palmer is a painting that turned into something it wasn’t meant to be originally. This painting started as an idea with a photo taken during this past summer in downtown Palmer. Having previously painted the Palmer water tower during summer, I had been looking for just the right photo to use for a painting featuring the water tower during summer.
It was not meant to be.
As summer drew to an end, I quickly realized that the photo would also make a perfect holiday scene by changing the season to winter, adding Christmas lights and replacing the Ram truck in the reference photo with a horse-drawn sleigh
That shift turned into this painting, which now features downtown Palmer during the Christmas season. There’s snow on the ground, Christmas lights on the tower and the surrounding buildings and the windows glow warmly in the night. Add to that a couple enjoying a night out among the decorate streets of Palmer and we find ourselves with the perfect holiday scene.
