Twilight Retreat
About the painting
One favorite activity in Alaska during the summer is camping. Pack up your gear, whether it’s tent, RV or trailer and head out to a camp ground near or far. Set up camp, gather firewood and light a camp fire, then spend the evening around the camp fire swapping stories, making smores and grilling hot dogs.
It is the essence of the above I wanted to try to capture with this painting. A camp fire by a lake, surrounded by forest. In the distance, you can see the glowing lights of a village while the setting sun paints a beautiful sunset in the background.
